Mustang Martha

Originally titled Martha's Mustang, I am very excited about this feature film about a woman struggling to survive in the man's world of auto body repair who sues City Hall to keep a hot pink Mustang, refurbished into a flower planter as part of her Shop's sign after the City cites her for violating the Junk Car Ordinance - a new Ordinance only enforced when people complain. So, who's out to get Martha? Inspired by the true events that divided the city of Baytown, TX in 1994.

As a rebellion story inspired by true events from the early 1990s, it feels like the perfect segue from my debut feature film Acid Test. With broad appeal, the script has gathered several accolades such as being selected as a Quarterfinalist for the Nicholl Fellowship, receiving the Houston Arts Alliance Support for Artists and Creative Individuals Grant to produce a table read workshop of the script, which was featured as part of the 2022 Houston Cinema Arts Festival. It was a semi-finalist for a Film Fatales Fellowship to the Stowe Story Lab, where it participated in both the Producer's Lab and the Narrative Lab in addition to the Intentional Filmmaking Class with From the Heart Productions, who served as fiscal sponsors for Acid Test.

Recently, we've been focusing on community-awareness events in Baytown because as a community story, we want to make this movie in Baytown, with Baytown, and for Baytown. On June 28th we had an incredible staged performance of the script in front of a packed audience in partnership with the Baytown Little Theater. This event also served as our first official fundraiser! Read more and see photos HERE.
Back in November, we also had a wonderful community-awareness event at the Baytown Historical Museum to kick off our pre-production efforts with an eye toward a spring 2026 shoot with our phenomenal Texas-based crew. Check out more information HERE.

We had a wonderful live table read - for audience feedback - during the 2022 Houston Cinema Arts Festival performed by local actors. Read more and see photos HERE!

We are ready to move Mustang Martha into production in 2026 and in order to do that, we need to raise our $500,000 budget to pay for our LOCAL cast & crew for a 15-day shoot. There are a lot of characters and locations in this fun, heartfelt movie and we want to make Baytown look good! From the Heart Productions is also serving as our fiscal sponsor for Mustang Martha and we are actively FUNDRAISING to bring this film to life, making any donations tax-deductible!

Martha is alive and well, as are many of the real-life characters from our story. People of Baytown still remember the "purple planter" and the fight with City Hall.

Thank you so much for your support! I can't do it without you!
Excited to see where this project goes next!
Check out our SIZZLE REEL that covers the scope of the project and includes documentary interviews with some of the key characters as well as a TEASER SCENE we shot with local actors to give a sense of tone for the film:
