MUSTANG MARTHA

A woman struggling to survive in the man's world of auto body repair fights her city over an old Mustang she's turned into a hot pink "flower planter" to attract customers but the city says is a violation of the new Junk Car Ordinance. Inspired by the true events that divided Baytown, TX in 1994.

The Screenplay Experience

On June 28th, we partnered with the Baytown Little Theater to perform a staged reading of our script in front of a Baytown audience for feedback. It served as our first fundraiser as well!

Award-winning script

The script for Mustang Martha (originally titled Martha's Mustang) has garnered numerous accolades including being selected as a Nicholl Fellowship Quarterfinalist, participating in the Stowe Story Producing & Narrative Labs where it was also a Film Fatales Fellowship Semifinalist, the Support Artists and Creative Individuals Grant funded by the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance, and the Houston Cinema Arts Festival.

Community Awareness

Mustang Martha is a Baytown story that we want to make in Baytown, with Baytown, and for Baytown. We kicked off our pre-production with an event at the Baytown Historical Museum with that priority in mind.

Table Read Workshop

Part of my scriptwriting process for my feature films (starting with Acid Test) has been a casted table read in front of an audience for feedback. Funded by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance's Support for Artists and Creative Individuals, we had an amazing read of an early draft of what was "Martha's Mustang" as part of the Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
